In the suite 'Roumaniana', Absil used folkmusic from Walachije, Moldavia and Transsylvania. The suite consists of five parts;

1.Danse de Craiova et Caracal
ThisAllegro Vivaceconsists of two contrasting melodies; the first is a variation of the characteristic songs from Craiova and Caracal, the second comes from the satiric songMunea ta n-o cruti o beiof Suceava.

2.Berceuse Mlancholique
ThisAndante con Mototakes us to the dreamworld of a child (through) the lullabyaidi nani, piuiu mamiiplayed by the bassoon.

3.Danse de Transsylvanie
ThisScherzo Leggieroin 5/8 time, uses as theme a variation of the songDraga mi-e fata saracafrom Resita. Like a classical scherzo there is a trio-like part in which the clarinet playes the songBata-te Muichita Batafrom the country of Banat.

4.Chansons de Brasov
ThisAndantino Cantabileis written in the classical three-part form. The main theme is a variation on the sad songS-asa-mi zice iederawhich contrasts with the military songMunte, munte, piatra seacafrom the country of Suceava.

5.Fte Populaire
This strongly rhythmical part concludes the suite with the evocation of a whirling folkfeast. First the vivid theme of theSirbadominates, then the suite ends with a piece of virtuous gipsymusic.
