This one was originally a drinking song. It was well-known in the folksong repertoire untill the early 1900s. Its referance to alcoholic beverages gave it a revival during the prohibition in the US. In 1939 Glenn Miller recorded his swing arrangement of the piece and it became very popular. This arrangement is loosely based on Glenn Millers version. The piece can be performed in different tempos, either as a march in parades or as a swing tune in concerts. Two different drum parts are enclosed on for parade and one drumset part for concert.
