Der amerikanische Komponist Abe Holzman (New-York, 1874 - East Orange, 1939) war jahrelang tätig als Komponist und Arrangeur bei verschiedenen amerikanischen Verlegern. Sein Marsch "Blaze Away' (1901) wurde inspiriert von einem Ausspruch eines Marineoffizieres während eines Seegefechts im ‚Spanisch-Amerikanischen Krieg'. 1898 gab Kapitän Gridley in der Bai von Manilla den Schießbefehl mit den Worten "Well boys let's blaze away!' (Feuert los!). Dieser Marsch wurde sehr populär im 20. Jahrhundert, auch in Europa. Willy Hautvast hat ihn für die aktuelle Instrumentierung eingerichtet.
